London Eye

The London Eye is the largest observation wheel of it’s kind anywhere in the world, standing an incredible 135 metres (443 feet) high. From it’s position on the South Bank of the River Thames in Lambeth, the wheel commands outstanding views of London attractions , including; Canary Wharf, Gherkin, Trafalgar Square, Houses of Parliament, Westminster Bridge, Buckingham Palace

Built in 1999 to mark the new millenium, the London Eye was sponsored by British Airways and designed by architects David Bullen, Julia Barfield, Malcom Cook, Mark Sparrowhawk, Steven Chilton and Nik Bailey. It is currently operated by the Tussards Group, who also responsible for Madame Tussauds and The Planetarium.

Each of the 32 sealed pods the London Eye supports are fully air-conditioned and can hold up to d passengers. The full journey takes approximately 30 minutes.
